Meet Sly II

Sly II joined the Lake County Common Pleas Courts in November 2025 as the successor to Atticus, the Courts’ first facility dog. A Golden Retriever / Yellow Labrador Cross, Sly was born on December 12, 2023. He brings comfort, calmness, and a friendly presence to those navigating the court system.

Trained for two years by Canine Companions, Sly supports children, families, victims, witnesses, and jurors throughout court cases. He regularly visits Domestic Relations Court and Juvenile Court (including the Juvenile Court Detention Center). In Probate Court, Sly attends adoption hearings. In the General Division of the Courts of Common Pleas, Sly helps victims of crime and witnesses manage anxiety while testifying. He also provides comfort to jurors following their service.

Outside of his important work, Sly enjoys spending time with his best dog friends—Heights, Daisy, Opie, and Ditka—playing in the snow, splashing through mud puddles, playing with toys, and watching the world from the window. His gentle and steady presence makes him a valued member of the Lake Common Pleas Courts.
